Inspection gauges, go/no-go gauges and checking fixtures built to your quality-control requirements.
A gauge has to be more accurate than the thing it measures, or it is just a second opinion. We build inspection gauges and checking fixtures sized against your drawing tolerance, with gauge tolerance taken as a proportion of the part tolerance.
Where the check needs a machine rather than a hand gauge — a station that presses, drills or verifies one component thousands of times — that is a special-purpose machine, and it has its own page.
What we build
Specification
| Gauge members | OHNS or EN31, hardened and lapped |
|---|---|
| Gauge tolerance | Taken as a proportion of the component tolerance |
| Wear allowance | Applied on go members per the gauging standard used |
| Handles and bodies | Knurled, marked with size and go / no-go |
| Marking | Permanently etched with nominal size and tolerance |

Questions
Gauge tolerance is taken as a fraction of the component tolerance so that gauge error does not consume your working tolerance. We calculate it from your drawing and confirm the figure with you before manufacture.
Gauges are supplied with recorded actual sizes as manufactured. For traceable third-party calibration certification, tell us at enquiry so it can be arranged as part of the order.
A drawing with the tolerance called out is what a gauge is sized from, so it is what we need. If you only have a sample, send it with whatever drawing exists and we will tell you what is missing before quoting.
